The title of the work, A Lightness of Being refers to a sense of freefall or disconnection from the natural world and is a response to climate change, rising sea levels and an Australian reluctance to take immediate action. The work is in 3 parts; Plato's cave, an allegorical world of shadows and reflections, Tipping Point, a collision point between humanity and the power of the ocean. The vast mass of the ocean to date has absorbed approximately 90% of heat emissions, once the ocean reaches capacity for absorption magnified by melting ice, an irreversible tipping point will be reached.
