<image:title>Projects - Dystopia, installation, glass and resin, 2013</image:title>
<image:caption>Dystopia can be thought of as an imagined state, an illusion of an ideal utopian world. This work uses redundant industrial glass to express alarm concern with the destructive impact of human economic progress on natural environments. The seductive and glittering quality of this waste material draws us to shimmering reflected light as if it were a precious material. Broken particles speak of the fragility of human life, the futility of aspirational desire, and the unexpected beauty to be found in superseded, derelict and discarded waste materials.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - A Lightness of Being: Catharsis, 3 channel HD video, 2013</image:title>
<image:caption>The third and final part of A Lightness of Being is Catharsis or release. The industrial sheet of glass as a metaphor for the human interface with the natural world, the seemingly touch yet fragile membrane protecting humans from the forces of nature but not protecting nature from the excesses of humanity. I use light as a symbol of hope and beauty, to balance the brutality of smashing glass and to capture crystalline moments of fracture. The light illuminates the potential of transformation, a call to action.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Projects - Anthropocene, HD video, 2015</image:title>
<image:caption>The word Anthropocene captures the idea that humans have become a geological force altering the climate and pushing other species to the brink of extinction. The video work is shot on location in a 1915 industrial coal fired power station repurposed as a glassmaking facility. Sheets of industrial glass, representing human progress and protection from natural forces are used to speak of the increased speed, growth and pressure exerted on our fragile planet, Earth. I use the sound and imagery of shattering glass to create spectacle, to question human complicity, to disrupt patterns of thought and behaviour.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - A Lightness of Being: Tipping Point, 3 channel HD video, 2013</image:title>
<image:caption>The title of the work, A Lightness of Being refers to a sense of freefall or disconnection from the natural world and is a response to climate change, rising sea levels and an Australian reluctance to take immediate action. The work is in 3 parts; Plato's cave, an allegorical world of shadows and reflections, Tipping Point, a collision point between humanity and the power of the ocean. The vast mass of the ocean to date has absorbed approximately 90% of heat emissions, once the ocean reaches capacity for absorption magnified by melting ice, an irreversible tipping point will be reached.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - The Sixth Mass Extinction: Performance and HD Video work, 2017</image:title>
<image:caption>The Six Mass Extinctions include five historical mass extinctions and the sixth, now hastened by climate change is currently in progress. The extinctions are represented by six suspended ethereal sheets of glass. On 27 January 2017, the live performance of The Sixth Mass Extinction was held in the historic Canberra Fitters Workshop. This video is an abbreviated version of the performance. Over 200 disposable bottles of water were handed out to become part of the performance and drew the audience into a surprising and complicit involvement. The performance was a collaborative work with musician and composer Alexander Hunter.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Climate Change: The Musical (in three parts)</image:title>
<image:caption>Part One: The Romance Part Two: The Ultimatum Part Three: The Divorce This work is based on the idea of a travel poster advertising a luxury escape from an uncomfortable truth. Posters were once the main form of advertising had the capacity to engage through the use of simple and arresting imagery in public places. They also had the ability disrupt, incite action, include humour and have had a history of being used for political purposes. This work reveals the Australian love of cruising and confronting contradiction of the devastating coral bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef and the ongoing support of fossil fuels by the Australian Government. Artists have the capacity bear witness to and document critical contemporary issues. Medium: Digital print on glass Measurements: 3 posters in a set, each is H 600 mm x W 420 mm x D 60 mm Editions: The first edition was acquired by the ANU Climate Change Institute in 2017 Limited editions available and pricing available on request via contact page</image:caption>
